European Markets rise on a new wave of optimism; Pound rises on Posen and Geithner comments

FXstreet.com (Barcelona) - Green numbers are dominating stocks around the world with the Stocks in Europe rising, following Asian gains, on a new wave of optimism and BoE's Posen and US Treasury's Geithner comments. Pound is winning today across the board. Yen is higher too.

DJ Eurostoxx 600 is rising 1.20% so far today, FTSE 100 advances 0.64%, CAC 40 index is 0.37% higher today, DAX climbs 0.76% and the IBEX 35 is climbing 0.70% so far today. Oil is advancing 1.14% to trade above 60.00 level but Gold is falling 0.17% to close to 921.00.

BoE's Posen has affirmed that He will be 'surprised if economy don't grow in 2010', also, Posen has said that economy may start to grow in the second half of 2009. UK June CPI also helped Pound too, with data in line of expectations.

Timothy Geithner, US Treasury Secretary, suggested that the recession could be over in the following months.

The Sterling has posted 1.6326 as fresh intra-day high against the Dollar in the last minutes, currently pair is consolidating above 1.6300 level, rising 0.30% so far today.

EUR/USD has fallen below 1.4100 level after testing intra-day high at 1.4015, pair is falling 0.20% today from opening price. USD/CHF has broken the 1.0850 resistance to post 1.0862 as fresh intra-day high and rise 0.40% on the day.

USD/JPY remains above 93.00, little changed since Asian opening. Daily charts showing a probable triple floor formation around 91.70 zone, with a neck around 93.60, past Thursday high, are slightly bullish, thus pair has not yet grab upside momentum. Currently pair is trading around 93.10/20, posting 0.10% daily gains.
