Regional bourses hold on to gains, gold steady at highs

The Nikkei is up 0.2%, the Kospi is +0.6% and spot gold is still hanging around $998/oz. Cable has been the main mover in the FX markets in the last few minutes, popping up 25 pips on mild short covering I'm told. I will pass over to Sam now to guide you through the (probably uneventful) next few hours.
