The AUD/NZD did little on its opening price of 1.2501. The pair has oscillated between 1.2492 and 1.2558. This represents a change of 0.256%.
The AUD did however gain against most currencies as equity markets in Asia rallied. As reported in the Sydney Morning Herald, CBA chief currency strategist Richard Grace held that the Aussie benefited from “a little bit of expectation that global growth will be good.” This environment of low volatility creates an appetite for riskier assets such as the Aussie.
Further changes may be expected following a release of Chinese retail sales and trade data to be released later today.
