UK's Brown: Recession Recovery Not Automatic - Sky

LONDON -- U.K. prime minister Gordon Brown has told Sky News television that the recession isn't over yet and cash must continue to be pumped into world economies to avoid years of low growth and high unemployment.

"We don't have a recovery yet; the recovery is not automatic," he said in an interview with Sky at the Group of 20 summit in Pittsburgh.

"The right thing to do is to maintain the situation where the world is together stimulating each of our economies so that we return to growth," he said.

Brown said he believed fiscal and monetary stimulus must be maintained for the time being, adding that he hoped the G20 nations would work together to find a way to achieve sustainable long-term development.

"Without concerted action there is a danger of years of low growth and low employment," he said.
