Germany's VDA: July New Car Registrations +5% On Yr

FRANKFURT -- New car registrations in Western Europe were up 5% on the year in July, the German automobile industry association VDA said Friday.

"Demand for new cars was up around the world in July, supported by stabilizing economic conditions and widespread purchase incentives," VDA said in a statement.

For the January-July period, new car registrations were down 8% from a year ago.
