DATA SNAP: Hungary Trade Surplus Rises Further In June

BUDAPEST -- Hungary's already robust trade surplus rose further in June as imports kept falling more than exports in the wake of dwindling domestic demand and shrinking export markets, figures released Thursday show.

Hungary generated a trade surplus of EUR549.1 million in June, up sharply from a surplus of EUR30.8 million a year earlier and also higher from EUR478.9 million in May, the central statistics office, or KSH, said.

In the first half of this year, Hungary recorded a trade surplus of EUR2.08 billion, up sharply from a surplus of EUR331.6 million a year earlier.

In May, 79% of Hungary's exports went to the European Union and 72% of its imports came from the same region, the KSH said.
