LIMA -- Peru's stock market indexes ended higher Friday, along with a number of mining companies.
The Lima Stock Exchange's broad general index rose 1.42% to end at 14,092.02.
The selective blue-chip index closed up 1.80% at 23,433.38.
The mining sub-index gained 1.34%.
Precious-metals miner Compania de Minas Buenaventura SA (BUENAVC1.VL) advanced 2.1% to end at 76.65 soles ($25.67) as gold prices rose. Buenaventura's second-quarter income totaled $134.4 million, compared with $121.7 million in the same quarter a year earlier.
Base-metals miner Southern Copper Corp. (PCU) rose 2.4% to $25.80 on stronger copper prices, while copper miner Sociedad Minera Cerro Verde SA (CVERDEC1.VL) ended 2.2% higher at $22.78.
Financial holding company Credicorp Ltd. (BAP) rose 1.5% to end at $67.00.
The sol weakened slightly, ending at PEN2.986 against the U.S. dollar, after closing at PEN2.985 in the previous session. It is up 4.78% against the greenback so far this year.
